GLOW Girl World: Empowering Young Girls Through Poetry

By Olivia Howard  |  Summer Writing & Journalism Program

GLOW Girl World is an astonishing organization for young girls led by Syni Champion. Unlike your typical ballet or jazz dance class, GLOW Girl World focuses on empowering children 12 and under by using poetry with music.

Reciting poems helps the girls build vocabulary, communication skills, and self-confidence, along with improved focus and concentration from the choreography. These skills help the students build life skills and character which will reflect who they are as they become young women.

Syni, the creator of GLOW Girl World, loves poetry and uses it to elevate the children’s view of themselves. This early foundation sets them up to be strong leaders who are not afraid to speak up. It creates a safe space for girls as they form new bonds and friendships with each other. It is not only a great way for them to be themselves, but a way for parents to meet other parents with growing daughters.

GLOW Girl World is doing the important work of empowering young girls, which is an aspect that can make a significant impact in the daily life of women of all ages, but above all, for young girls.
